LATE UK Rapscallion - Review
In 1999 UK Rapper LATE exploded on to the UK Rap scene as the main rapper in Villains who released the critically acclaimed album ‘Welcome to Wolftown’ which put his home town of Wolverhampton on the Hip Hop map. Since then LATE has gone from strength to strength and released crew albums with Wolftown Committee and several solo joints, the first being ‘International Rhyme Spittin’ which boasts a track with 50 rappers from all over the world! LATE has released a plethora of mixtapes with US and UK DJ’s, teamed up with various US artists like Willie D from the Geto Boys, J.T tha Bigga Figga, KB Da Kinnappa amongst others and is also a member of Houston rap crew South Park Coalition fronted by the legendary K Rino. With years spent getting his name known on an international level LATE pays homage to the UK with ‘UK Rapscallion.’ This diverse album is 12 tracks deep all produced by Tricksta and features some of the UK’s hottest rappers. The street messenger LATE put’s his heart and soul on whatever he does, his words of wisdom speaks volumes and paints pictures in your mind and gives great incite to the life and times of this lil Rapscallion which many people all over the world can relate to! There’s always a little comical lyric that makes you smile too, which is great because it shows the character of this legend in the flesh they call LATE. Stand out tracks ‘I’m Still Here’ ’UK Rapscallion’ ‘Elevate’ and ‘Stick with Me’. Make sure you go and cop this from iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/uk-rapscallion/id366968938 and other digital download sites, or if you’re like me and love the physical CD then you can buy at the end of May from http://www.wolftownrecordings.net/ and other online stores.
Spike Lee designs Absolut Brooklyn bottle
Spike Lee has designed Absolut’s new limited edition vodka, Absolut Brooklyn. The litre bottle has already hit the shelves in the US and will be available for about 4 weeks. (We probably won’t see it here in the UK) The apple and ginger flavoured vodka pays homage to the Big Apple. The front of the bottle has the number 165 which is supposed to be Spike’s house number in Cobble Hill where he grew up. Even the bottle’s medallion of Lars Olsson has been changed to look like Spike Lee complete with baseball cap and glasses!

The Wire to be studied at University of York
The 10 week module titled The Wire as Social Science Fiction? Starts this autumn at the University of York, it’s thought to be the first of its kind in the UK and will be offered and studied by final year students as part of their sociology degree. The students that have signed up will need to have watched all 60 hour long episodes, the modules will look at topics including race, class and politics. Head of Sociology at the university explains that it's easier for students to use The Wire as a way of looking at the current political system than it is to get them to read a book on it or sit through hours of lectures. The Wire is already a study subject in Harvard University in the States.

Lil B from Naptown, USA
Reality Game interview with: Lil B.
You were born and raised in Indianapolis can you tell us what the Hip Hop scene is like there?
The hip hop scene in 'Naptown' is 'gangsta'.. By us being the Midwest, our style is a mixture of west coast and dirty south. It’s all hood.
How did you get in the game? What artists have inspired you?
Writing and recording music been a hobby of mine since I was about 12 or 13.. It was my hood and people at school that inspired me to be serious.. Not a lot of 'rapper's' were my motivation you feel me?
You released an album called ‘Grind b4u Shine’ tell us about that.
Grind b4u shine is pretty much self-explanatory you know?? The concept of the album is to just keep hustling and getting your paper... Play a little, but be business at the same time.
What projects have you released recently? Will you be dropping another album any time soon?
I’m actually putting the finishing touches on my new album right now. It’s entitled 'Tha ghetto been good 2 me'. I’m very proud of it and the streets and the hood are gonna go nuts when they hear it.
Have you dropped any videos?
Yeah I got a video in circulation right now on YouTube called "Thick ass stallion" Lol.. The name of the song pretty much sums up what it’s about.. Thick.. Ass.. Stallion. Go check it out immediately.
Can you tell us what a Lil B show is like?
A Lil' B show is well worth your money you hear me lol?? I was born to perform. I’m getting crunk.. I’m buckin.. I’m squeezin ass and titties and all dat sh*t lol... I’m just a gangsta!
What artists are you feeling at the moment?
The artists that I’m feeling right now are the same artists I grew up listening to. All the O.G’s. 8ball and MJG, Scarface, UGK, E-40, Too Short, Tupac, Trick Daddy, Twista, Bone Thugs, Master P, Snoop, angstas, hustlas and pimps mayne....
Lil B where can people go and check out your music?
You can check out my music at www.myspace.com/hardheadzent Add me as a friend, my shit’s banging!!
Is there anything else that you would like to add?
The last thing I wanna add is, I’m looking forward to being invited to UK for a show. I’m not psychic, but I can visualize me 'layin it down'. I’m 'trained to go' lol. Contact management @317-506-1965.....peace!!!!

Trae Tha Truth files lawsuit against US radio station
Rapper Trae The Truth has decided to file a lawsuit against Houston radio station; Radio One and 97.9 KBXX, The Box after they banned his music from receiving airplay and then began interfering in his relationships with other music industry artists and professionals.
It’s alleged that Trae became the subject of a radio ban after radio host DJ Nnete claimed that his music played a role in causing violence at a public festival that he sponsored.
"I would not have filed a lawsuit, but when other people started being hurt by this ban, I knew I had to stand up," says Trae. "I just could not let any more people suffer and be punished by the radio station over this ridiculous vendetta."
The suit also alleges that a radio station staff member was suspended for a week and a half without pay for making a mixtape outside of work that featured Trae's music. He later had to cut ties with Trae. Radio veterans Kracker Nuttz were fired from the station after 12 years for playing a Chamillionaire track that featured Trae. Other relationships have suffered due to the ban.
James Prince CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records states, “This ban is sabotaging his career”.... "Having run a record label for over twenty years, I've never seen anything like this."
Trae is suing for general damages to his reputation, character, standing in the community, mental suffering, loss of professional opportunities, performance revenue, record royalties and other damages.
In 2008, Trae was honoured by Houston Mayor Bill White and Council Member Peter Brown with his own "Trae Day" in honour of his outstanding community service.
