Steve Rifkind Tried To Sign Jay-Z…

Check out part 1 of this Steve Rifkind interview conducted by Sumit from The Hip Hop Chronicle. After catching up with Steve Rifkind during his stay in London Sumit got Steve to break down the Duck Seazon lyrics where RZA says "Steve Rifkind must be sniffin". They then go onto speaking about Steve's first encounters with artists.

He explains how Havoc (Mobb Deep) lit up a blunt during their first meeting and caused a fire alarm to go off. He talks about the first time he met Melanie Fiona and how he thought her manager was "breathtakingly beautiful" and at the time he had just turned single! (Unfortunately for Steve she was married)

The Loud & SRC founder also describes a 16 year old Dame Dash as a "cocky motherfucker" who came into Steve's office shouting and screaming with his cousin. Rifkind once thought Roc-A-Fella would be his competition. Steve Rifkind then revealed he tried to sign Jay-Z before Def Jam but Chairman of BMG didn't want to, so he decided to throw everything off the Chairman's desk.

There's also a great story about Steve Rifkind throwing a chair threw a window over a Wu Tang record and being led out of the building in handcuffs.

Part 2 coming tomorrow. It includes stories about Akon, a bloody nosed Diddy, smoking with Tupac and whether or not the Wu Tang Clan set up Steve with a phantom intern….

New Video from Kokane 'Twilight Zone'

West Coast 'Hook Master' Kokane is one of the West Coast's chief architects, from his rise as a solo-artist on Eazy-E's Ruthless Records and Snoop Dogg's Dogghouse Records, to his work with Above The Law and his countless guest appearances (Kokane is the most featured artist in the world---do the research) as his voice has been featured on over 35 million record sales over the course of his storied career (there is a reason they call him the hook master). Block Exchange (Duss Smittoooo & RH Bless) "I Don't See Em" Ft. Push Montana

In anticipation of the Ides of March, RH Bless and Duss Smittoooo release the first single off Block Exchange's upcoming street album The Hierarchy of the Streets dropping March 16 called "I Don't See Em" featuring Money In the Bank/Hustle Hard emcee Push Montana.

On this cut, the new Brooklyn movement rhymes about being movers-and-shakers on the scene while others just talk about where they've been and where they're heading. The Block Exchange Grindwave is evident in their music and presence, we don't ever see others.
