B.G to release new album 'Hollyhood'
B.G is set to release his new album 'Hollyhood' on October 5th. 'Hollyhood' should hopefully follow the success his album 'Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood' released last year on T.I's Grand Hustle. Make sure you look out for 'Hollyhood'.
Westwood contestant on 'Dancing on Ice'
Tim Westwood has apparently been offered £50,000 to be a contestant on ITV's 'Dancing on Ice' he asked his followers on Twitter if he should go ahead and take the offer. The response on Twitter was urging him to take up the offer, but he didn't know if it was genuine or if they just wanted a cheap laugh at his expense. THEN yesterday he was offered an extra £10,000!! I don't like all these Dancing on Ice, Britain's Got Talent type of things....BUT if Westwood does take up the offer then I think I'd to watch it! It would be quite funny seeing him in a tight-up sequined suit!
Fat Beats in New York and L.A to Close
Fats Beats started back in 1994 in New York and have opened stores in L.A, Amsterdam and Tokyo. If you're a fan of Hip Hop then this was one of those stores that you had to go to if you were in one of these cities. In 1998 I too tried visit Fat Beats to buy somes tunes and place some copies of Rago Magazine and Wolftown snippet tapes in there.
BUT somebody called LATE gave me and my sis the wrong address and we ended up going to some unsavoury neck of the woods in Manhattan that looked like scenes from Starsky and Hutch!! We walked past this garage about 3 times, by then the workers there must have thought what the hell are these 2 tourists doing down here!! After nearly getting run over and me and my sister nearly coming to blows we called it a day...sad to say we never found Fat Beats. Somehow we found a cool grafitti clothing shop and then ended up in Canal Street..home of cheapo fakes!
Fat Beats was the place to be and get all the latest underground releases you could see artists performing in there as well as buying records!! With this new download revolution many independent record shops throughout the world have closed down. We can all say this is a shame that records shops all over are closing but ask yourself this..."When was the last time you went out a bought an album, single or E.P?" So in a way we have done this to part of our culture. I for one will put up my hand and say that I don't buy as much music as i used to BUT if i see a record shop somewhere I always have to go in and have a mooch and gauranteed I'll come out with something!!
Fat Beats closes it's door in New York on September 4th and in L.A on September 18th. Although you'll be able to shop online at http://www.fatbeats.com/ it's not quite the same. R.I.P Fat Beats!!
Ice cube wants Chris Tucker for new 'Friday' movie
Dammmmmmmmmmnnn.....Ice Cube has told All Hip Hop that he's campaigning for a new installment of 'Friday'. "I even want Chris Tucker in it. I think that’s what everybody wants to see," Ice Cube stated. "They want to see all of us together, I’ve been campaigning trying to put that together, I’m going to keep campaigning until the idea is so old nobody wants to see it."
Well, we would love to see a new installement to the 'Friday' series...Mike Epps is well funny but Chris Tucker just killed especially when he smoked the angel dust!! Check the trailer above...
Public Enemy Live in London for thier only UK show
Original P.E members Chuck D, Flavor Flav and Professor Griff along with S1W's; Brother Mike, James Bomb, Pop Diesel and DJ Lord are to play at the Indigo 02 Arena on November 14th 2010. This is definitely a show not to be missed!! I remember seeing Public Enemy at the Hummingbird in Birmingham with my brother and sister....I was too young to go on my own! It was amazing!!
After being signed to Def Jam by Rick Rubin P.E started out as the opening act for the Beastie Boys and in 1987 they released their first album 'Yo Bum Rush The Show'. Regraded as one of the most influential Hip Hop groups in Rap History P.E have released some pretty phenomenal tracks such as 'Don't believe The Hype' and 'Fight the Power'. They made music history be being the first band to release an album on MP3 and have influenced many artists and rappers such as Dead Prez, Mos Def, 2Pac, to Anthrax and Manic Street Preachers.
Throughout the years they have toured over 45 countries, embarked on over 56 tours and performed more than 1300 concerts. Three of their albums are certified multi-platinum; three more are gold, with four gold singles and a platinum-selling home video. If you've never been to a Public Enemy concert and you're from the UK then I suggest you got to this one off show, you won't be dissapointed!
